🕵️♂️ Finding Chats Just Got Easier
If you’ve ever found yourself endlessly scrolling through WhatsApp chats trying to find that one conversation, you’re not alone. Recognizing this common frustration, WhatsApp is testing a new feature aimed at simplifying the search process.
🆕 Introducing Recent Search History
In the latest beta version 2.25.16.8 for Android, WhatsApp introduces a feature that displays your last five search queries directly beneath the search bar in the “Updates” tab. This means quicker access to previously searched contacts and channels. Moreover, when searching for channels, you’ll see the number of new posts awaiting you.
📅 Status Updates at a Glance
For contacts, the search results now indicate the last time they posted a status update. This allows you to stay informed about your contacts’ activities without navigating through each chat individually.
🔐 Privacy Considerations
Concerned about privacy? Rest assured, WhatsApp ensures that your search history remains on your device and is not shared with their servers. Your data stays with you.
📱 Availability
Currently, this feature is available to beta testers on Android. There’s no official word yet on when it will roll out to iOS users. As with many WhatsApp features, a broader release is expected in the near future.
